Colombian judoka Yury Alvear retained the title of world champion who won last year in Rio de Janeiro, after winning Friday in the final of the 70 kilos to Japanese Ira Karen Nun in the world that are made in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk. (See: Yuri Alvear wins)
Alvear first won the world title in the event which was held in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 2009 and last year won the German Laura Vargas Koch in Brazil.
Alvear semifinals won the favorite and leader of the ladder, the Dutch Kim Polling, leader of the world rankings, and who had until Friday to win all his fights of the year.
Even so rapid was the passage of the Colombia, last Pan American champion, in the end, the faster was the pursuit of gold because Alvear just needed a minute and one second to win by the same score in the final Japanese Nun Karen Ira.
Alvear said he has a problem in his right knee and will now have a period of recovery, the truth, not very long, it will be at the Pan Festival Pachuca (Mexico), from 7 to 15 September, all with a view to participation in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz (Mexico), in November.
